My cats: Salt & pepper?

Advertise | AdChoices

The black one with one ear just showed up. We found the patch-work, white-with-a-touch-of-brown "rag-doll" at a local shelter. Polar opposites? Salt & pepper? Not at all as you can see from the picture. The black one is the matriarch -- the elder. The white one is her pesky little brother, sometimes driving her to distraction. They love each other. Brother and sister -- an occasional tiff -- but mostly love.

Constantly playing, they stampede through the house and wrestle in the bathtub, and are often by our human sides, giving love and empathy with no strings attached. They're both gentler than anything. They take care of each other and they take care of us, their humans.

"My, my; how complicated and difficult human life is," I think. Just then, the cat or both cats jump to my side, rubbing me with love and/or sitting in my lap... Or they pull such inane, impossible, cartoon-like stunts -- defying gravity and other laws of physics as only cats can do -- and make me realize what crap it is I'm worrying about.

My cats live in the moment. Every moment. Each can sit motionless in a window watching the outdoors for hours, constantly curious, enjoying all.

They are my teachers. I can only strive to achieve their level of awareness, peace, love, and detachment.

I love a cat tale, having one myself! Your twosome are just lovely.

You are right about cats. There is a grace about them, that we humans can learn from.

BTW your ragdoll looks like my sister's cat Spicy. She got him from a shelter, so we don't know if he is an actual rag doll.

So now the bigger question is who is the gent in your avatar?

Well nice to meet a fellow cat lover.

The gent in my avatar is meant to express a kinda French/Algerian, "Haw-huh... I am zee Fraanch aristo-cat... waiting to pounce and cause zee trouble! Mais oui! Avec mon plaisir!"

So that grand looking gent of fine breeding is still a mouser? NEVER! He is a ladies man, with his gentle purrs in their ears.

Mon amour, s'il vous plaît partager ce dîner de thon avec moi!

And then he takes off his fez, and the real purring begins ;-)

Mousers?

;-)

Mes chats n'ont pas pu être tracassés… (My cats couldn't be bothered...)

You're right. Eating (manger), loving, purring and comfort -- first and foremost.
